The verbs was and were are the past form of the verb to be and mean to be or being.
Both have the same meaning, but can not be used in all cases since each is used for different subjects.
For example: "I" (me), "he" (him), "she" (her) and "it" (that) are combined with: was, while "they" (them), "we" (us) and "you" (or you them), are conjugated with the verb were.
1. I was eating when
he arrived. (Yo estaba comiendo cuando él llegó).
2. He was training so
hard for the competition. (Él estaba entrenando muy duro para la competencia).
3. She was happy to
see you. (Ella estaba feliz de verte).
4. It was weird. (Eso
fue raro).
5. They were mean.
(Ellos eran groseros).
6. We were hungry. (Nosotros
teníamos hambre).
7. You were much
younger. (Tú eras mucho más joven)
8. I was angry. (Yo estaba
molesta).
9. You were about to
sleep. (Estabas a punto de dormir).
10. He was acting like
crazy. (Él estaba actuando como loco).
